Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

  • The Prime Minister of Mauritius visits UNESCO and addresses its Executive Board
    On 14 October 2008, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, paid an official visit to UNESCO, where he held bilateral talks with UNESCO Director-General, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, and addressed the Organization’s Executive Board. During their bilateral meeting the Director-General expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between UNESCO and Mauritius. He congratulated Mauritius for the inscription on the World Heritage List of “Aapravasi Ghat” and “Mount Le Morne”, two cultural sites which are “significant emblems of the history of Mauritian communities.”

  • UNESCO and China sign Memorandum of Understanding
    Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, and His Excellency Mr Zhou Ji, Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, during the bilateral meeting that they held within the context of UNESCO’s ongoing General Conference.
  • UNESCO signs memorandum of understanding with the Inter-American Development Bank
    On 6 October 2008, the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a strategic partnership with Mr Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank. Also present at the signing ceremony were Mr Carlos M. Jarque, Director of the Bank’s Paris Office and Mr Marcio Barbosa, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO.

  • President Silajdzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina visits UNESCO
    On 1 October 2008, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, welcomed Mr Haris Silajdzic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to UNESCO. Ambassador Sahovic, Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, accompanied the President.

  • UNESCO and Inter-American Development Bank sign agreement for strategic partnership
    The Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, and the President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, signed today in Paris a Memorandum of Understanding for a Strategic Partnership to expand existing cooperation between the two organizations. This memorandum brings up to date the cooperation agreement concluded by UNESCO and the IDB in 1967. Reflecting the strategic interests of the two organizations and their new priorities, it provides a framework for cooperation between the two partners in education, science, culture and communication.
