Maison des Cultures du Monde was created in 1982 to meet theneed
to apply the principle of reciprocity in the French cultural relations
with the world. France, concerned until then for its expansion,
had woven a wide network of French Alliances and cultural Centers
abroad. It was then time to rpovide it with a space open to other
horizons, other civilizations, privileging the cultural perspective
on the political exigencies…
