Angkor, 8-11th centuries: Khmer memory and identity
Hughes Tertrais
Year: 2008
ISBN: 2746710765

This work evokes the history of the Angkor site since the French colonization to its classification as world heritage. 1860 Henri Mouhot "discovers" Angkor. 1908, only one hundred years ago, the creation of the Conservation of the monuments of Angkor emphasizes the permanent installation in the site of the French School of the Far East (EFEO). 1992, after the tragedy Khmère Rouge and twenty years of international isolation of Cambodia, UNESCO registers Angkor in the world heritage. Around these dates, Hugues Tertrais has directed a collective work where archaeology, contemporary history and urbanism intercross.
