Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Advancing traditional crafts of Azerbaijan for sustainable development
In August – September 2006 with the support of the UNESCO Moscow Office the Social-ecological Center “Eco-sphere” (Azerbaijan) conducted master-classes on traditional napless carpet weaving for young craftswomen from the Gala settlement, Azerbaijan.

A website about the traditional musical culture of Azerbaijan has been developed and launched
The project on creating the website has been carried out under the supervision of Professor Tariel Mamedov by the publishing house “Musiqi Dunyasi” within the UNESCO Moscow Office programme aimed at strengthening capacities for the implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003). In the framework of this programme UNESCO provides assistance to the Member States in strengthening capacities to prepare and implement effective actions for the safeguarding of their intangible cultural heritage and support intergenerational transmission of intangible cultural heritage.

Mediation in Historical Places

The publication « Mediation in Historical Places, Offer, content, form and actors, is the result of the ENCATC Workshop on “mediation in historical places” held in Fontevraud on 31st March and 1st April 2006. This event was organised by ENCATC in partnership with the Université Catholique de l’Ouest and in cooperation with EUROPA NOSTRA.

   

Protecting the cultural heritage from natural disaster
The study examines current national and international instruments and activities to protect cultural heritage from natural disasters, giving examples of best practices and describing problems and shortcomings. Based on an analysis of current and forthcoming EU legislation, priorities for action are defined.

On 9 March 2007, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICCROM and the Istituto Italo-Latino Americano (IILA).
