Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Exhibition: Benin. Five centuries of royal art
To 2 October 2007 to 6 January 2008. Curator: Barbara Plankensteiner, Director of African Collections at the Museum of Ethnology in Vienna.
Produced by the Museum of Ethnology in Vienna, the Benin exhibition displays works of art from the Court of the Kingdom of Benin. For the first time in Europe, this exhibition combines collections that are mainly from Austria, England and Germany. The collection of these works is of a remarkable historic value and it conveys a vast panorama of art and culture from the Kingdom of Benin. It includes bronzes and ivory, but also maps, manuscripts and travel logs, which reveal the nature of Nigeria’s wealthy past.

McCord museum: 135.000 images of the historical and cultural inheritance of Canada, in free access.
McCord museum continues its effort of digitalization and of documentation of its collections and access gives to it free and in a bilingual way. The bank D ? images comprises from now on 135.000 entries, including 2.200 with description. It is about the one of the most important collections of images on line in Canada.

Digitalization of the Nubian Heritage documents
To prevent rare books and documents of the Documentation Center of the Nubia Museum in Aswan from deterioration, they will be digitalized. Thus they will be safeguarded and will contribute to Nubian Heritage promotion, the audience being able to access the collection through the internet.

The International Slavery Museum, Liverpool United Kingdom
On August 23rd, 2007 National Museums Liverpool will inaugurate the International Slavery Museum. In line with the Liverpool City Council’s 1999 unreversed apology for its involvement in the European slave trade, the city once again aims to demonstrate its committment to shedding light on the slave trade by creating the world’s first permanent museum devoted to the transatlantic slave trade.
