FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Ratification by Japan of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its First Protocol (The Hague, 14 May 1954)
On 10 September 2007, Japan deposited with the Director-General its instruments of ratification of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its First Protocol. The instrument of ratification of the First Protocol was accompanied by a letter containing the following declaration: “In applying the provisions of paragraph 3 of I of the Protocol, Japan will fulfill the obligation under those provisions in a manner consistent with its domestic laws including the civil code. Japan will be, therefore, bound by the provisions of Section I of the Protocol to the extent that their fulfillment is compatible with the above-mentioned domestic laws.” [Original: English] In accordance with the terms of Article 33(2) of the Convention and Article 10(b) of its Protocol, the Convention and its First Protocol will enter into force with respect to Japan three months after the deposit of these instruments, that is to say on 10 December 2007.

Accession by Japan to the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict (The Hague, 26 March 1999)
On 10 September 2007, Japan deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. In accordance with the terms of its Article 43.2, the Protocol will enter into force with respect to Japan three months after the deposit of the instrument of accession, that is to say on 10 December 2007.

Ratification by the Republic of Moldova of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (Paris, 14 November 1970)
On 14 September 2007, the Republic of Moldova deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the above-mentioned Convention. The instrument of ratification contained the following declaration : “Until the full re-establishment of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, the provisions of the convention shall be applied only on the territory controlled effectively by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova.” [Original: Moldovan, with English translation provided] In accordance with the terms of Article 21, the Convention will enter into force with respect to the Republic of Moldova three months after the deposit of the instrument of acceptance, that is to say on 14 December 2007.

Ratification by Namibia of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (Paris, 17 October 2003)
On 19 September 2007, Namibia deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. In accordance with the terms of its Article 34, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force with respect to Namibia three months after the date of the deposit of its instrument, that is to say on 19 December 2007.

Accession by Cambodia to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Paris, 20 October 2005)
On 19 September 2007, Cambodia deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. In accordance with the terms of its Article 29, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force with respect to Cambodia three months after the date of the deposit of its instrument, that is to say on 19 December 2007.

Nueva Zelanda ratifies the 2005 Convention
Mrs. Helen Clark, Prime minister of New Zealand, sent on October 5, 2007 the General Director of UNESCO the instrument of ratification on the part of her country of 2005 Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions. On such occasion Mrs. Clark insisted on the fact that the adoption of the 2005 Convention by New Zealand was very natural, since her country had a long tradition of diversity of cultures and developed a decided policy to promote and perpetuate the coexistence of different cultural expressions.
