Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

Kathmandu Valley World Heritage Site in Danger
In 1972 UNESCO adopted the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Meanwhile the list contains 830 sites of Outstanding Universal Value in 138 countries. Since then UNESCO has launched 28 international campaigns for the safeguarding of the World’s Heritage, and has contributed to many other sites by raising funds and providing expertise for their preservation.

Exploring World Heritage through youth hostelling
The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) and Hostelling International (HI) have created a passport scheme to give young people the chance to discover World Heritage towns and cities. Director-General urges systematic measures to end poaching and killing of endangered animals in Democratic Republic of Congo World Heritage Sites
The Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, has written to Joseph Kabila, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and to Jean-Marie Guehenno, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, asking for measures to stop the poaching and killing of endangered animals in the five World Heritage Sites of the DRC.
