Forum UNESCO-University and Heritage (FUUH) is an UNESCO Project for undertaking activities to protect and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage, through an informal networkof higher education institutions. FUUH is under the joint responsibility of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain. This internet website is not an official site of UNESCO but a website created and managed by the UPV within the framework of the project FUUH.

World Heritage Expo to be Held in Northeastern China
The city of Shenyang in northeastern China will hold the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Expo from June 9 to October 9, 2007. UNESCO sends mission to assess the state of conservation of Machu Picchu World Heritage Site
UNESCO will send a mission to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, Peru, in view of concerns by the World Heritage Committee for the conservation of this outstanding Andean archaeological centre and its natural environment, inscribed as a mixed natural and cultural site on the World Heritage List in 1983.

Director-General urges syst ematic measures to end poaching and killing of endangered animals in Democratic Republic of Congo World Heritage Sites
The Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, has written to Joseph Kabila, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and to Jean-Marie Guehenno, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, asking for measures to stop the poaching and killing of endangered animals in the five World Heritage Sites of the DRC.

Visual Art Exhibition: The Thousand Mysteries of Borobudur
From 20 April to 09 May 2007, a visual exhibition entitled "The Thousand Mysteries of Borobudur" will take place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This exhibition is organized jointly by UNESCO Office, Jakarta, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Taman Wisata, the University of Gadjah Mada and Jogja Gallery. Its main objective is to showcase the importance of the cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) beneath the living stones of Borobudur, as a symbol of cultural diversity of Indonesia.

UNESCO Executive Board adopts landmark decision concerning the Mughrabi ascent in the Old City of Jerusalem
UNESCO's Executive Board has adopted a decision reaffirming the outstanding universal value of the Old City of Jerusalem and the need to protect and safeguard this World Heritage site. The decision followed a special meeting of the Board – whose 176th session has been underway in Paris since 10 April.

An exhibition on the Safeguarding of the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan
An exhibition devoted to the Safeguarding of the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan has been organized at UNESCO Headquarters on the occasion of the 176th session of its Executive Board. The Minaret of Jam became the first site in Afghanistan to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and simultaneously on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 2002.

Climate change threatens UNESCO World Heritage sites
The threats posed by climate change to natural and cultural sites on UNESCO's World Heritage List are outlined in a new UNESCO publication, "Case Studies on Climate Change and World Heritage"*. The report features 26 examples - including the Tower of London, Kilimanjaro National Park and the Great Barrier Reef - case studies that are representative of the dangers faced by the 830 sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Director-General condemns attack on UNESCO World Heritage site of Decani in Kosovo
The Director-General of UNESCO, Koïchiro Matsuura, today condemned the mortar attack launched late last week on the Monastry of Decani and pledged UNESCO's continued support to ensure the preservation of the edifice. The Monastery is part of the ensemble of Medieval Monuments in Kosovo, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004, and put on the World Heritage in Danger List in 2006.

Montenegro became the 192nd Member State of UNESCO on 1 March 2007
There are two sites inscribed on the World Heritage List in Montenegro. The medieval city of Kotor was inscribed in 1979. The National Park of Durmitor was first inscribed in 1980 and then extended in 2005.
