ABSTRACT

Tangible cultural heritage is a message from the past reflecting through historical vestiges. Thang Long ­ Hanoi's typical characteristics includes: due to imposed urbanization, many suburban villages adjacent to the city have been turning into urban area; urban experienced historical turns in which habitant sourced from various locals; living place for adjacent villagers manufacturing handicrafts or providing services for urban city. This writing deals with the historical proccess of Thang Long ­ Hanoi tangible heritages during three periods: mornachy, French colonial periods and modern time together with their characteristics: cultural heritages of villages intermixes with such of urban; cultural heritage showing various beliefs and religions and different cultural layers; cultural heritages although closely connect community in urban city but still ... famer characteristics. Basing on those, the author raise theoreticial and practical questions on preservation and promotion of values of Thang Long ­ Hanoi tangible cultural heritage within the framework of 1000th Hanoi anniversary.
